Overview

  • 1907 Crescent Tool Company founded in Jamestown, New York, USA by Karl Peterson.  Mr. Peterson was President from 1907 to 1933.  Born in Malmo, Sweden in 1866.
  • 1908 Crescent Adjustable Wrench Engineering drawings dated back to 1908, illuminates the fundamentals of the first adjustable wrench produced in America.
  • 1927 The company was kick-started by Detroit and the Ford Model T.   An adjustable wrench and slip-joint pliers (MoToR KiT) was supplied with every car.
  • 1930 Crescent introduced Crestoloy® alloy wrenches at the request of the US Army Air Corps. Crestoloy and similar alloys soon replaced carbon steel as the preferred material for the manufacture of hand tools.
  • 1938 Fighting for freedom - Seabees always had the proper sized wrench because they carried Crescent® adjustables wherever they went.  100% of production went to the war effort.
